Bernhard Osburg was born in 1968. Before joining Deutsche Bahn, he held a number of top management and leadership positions at thyssenkrupp AG, a leading industrial enterprise. In Osburg's most recent position as CEO of thyssenkrupp, his responsibilities included the company's global steel product portfolio, which serves more than 100 business customers and over 30 automotive manufacturers.

Over the more than 20 years Osburg spent at thyssenkrupp, he boosted sales in Germany and abroad and played a key role in strengthening the company's leading position in a highly competitive market. Osburg was responsible for thyssenkrupp's strategic transformation to green steel, and was instrumental in leading extensive restructuring at the company.

Osburg lives with his family in Duisburg.
