Dr. Müller: “Gerd Becht will ensure that the highest standards are used by DB in protecting data and fighting corruption in the future. We need this kind of outstanding expert, especially in these times.”

Ulrich Weber (59) should be appointed to become the member of the Management Board in charge of Human Resources no later than July 1, 2009. The cooperation of the Supervisory Board of Evonik Industries AG, Essen, is needed for the appointment of Weber, who is currently employed there as member of the Management Board and Director of Personnel. Born in Krefeld, Weber holds a law degree. Dr. Müller: “Ulrich Weber learned the personnel business from the bottom up. He has rightly gained a reputation for mastering this demanding assignment at the interface between corporate management and the workforce with a mix of care, tact and skill.”

Both Gerd Becht and Ulrich Weber were also appointed to the corresponding Management Board positions at DB Mobility Logistics AG.

Ulrich Homburg was appointed new head of the Passenger Transport division at DB ML AG. He was previously the Chairman of the Management Board of DB Regio AG. Born in Hanover, the 53 year-old manager holds a degree in engineering and will assume his new duties on June 1, 2009. The 57 year-old industrial engineer has been employed by DB since 2001. Dr. Grube: “I would like to extend my express thanks to my colleague Karl-Friedrich Rausch for not hesitating to take over the division that is so important for the success of our business. Our Passenger Transport business developed exceptionally well under his leadership . He is now exactly the right man for today’s difficult times in the logistics business.”

The Management Board position responsible for Economic and Political Affairs will be filled at the end of 2009. Until that time this position will be held by Joachim Fried (61), who has held senior positions in the DB Group for over ten years.
