Euro benchmark bond issued with a total volume of EUR 600 million

Deutsche Bahn issues Euro benchmark bond with a volume of € 600 million

(Berlin, 11 September 2009) Today Deutsche Bahn placed a Euro benchmark bond in the long duration sector with a total volume of € 600 million via Deutsche Bahn Finance B.V., Amsterdam/the Netherlands. The bond has a duration of twelve years and a coupon of 4.375 %. The issue price is 99.688 %, whereby a return of 4.409 % results.

With the decision for a long duration bracket, Deutsche Bahn has accommodated the interests of their investors. With denominations of € 1,000 it will also be possible for private persons to acquire bonds via the stock market.

In an overall positive market environment the demand – as was the case with the last issue in March 2009 – was significantly higher than the offering. The total demand volume was about € 5.8 billion. Therewith the bond was almost ten times oversubscribed. The consortia heads of bond issue are Calyon Crédit Agricole CIB, Commerzbank, The Royal Bank of Scotland and Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking.

The bond issue serves Deutsche Bahn to refinance liabilities that are impending in the near future and to increase the financial flexibility. The new bond conforms well to the maturity profile of the financial liabilities of Deutsche Bahn.
