(Berlin, October 10, 2019) The rating agency S&P Global Ratings (S&P) announced today, that it raises the long-term rating assessment of Deutsche Bahn AG (DB AG) from “AA-” to “AA“ and at the same time confirms the “stable” outlook. The short-term rating of DB AG is unchanged (“A-1+”).
The rating upgrade reflects the opinion of S&P, that the Climate Action Program 2030 announced by the German Government in September 2019 demonstrates increased support of Deutsche Bahn. The planned issue of hybrid bonds is seen positive as well. S&P expects, that as a result the credits metrics of DB AG will be sustainably strengthened. In the consequence S&P raises the assessment of the stand-alone credit profile (SACP) of DB AG from “BBB+” to “A-”.
